River Reports – September 8, 2010
North Santiam River Report – 09/08/2010
The N. Santiam is in great shape. Flow has increased dramatically this week due to the release of water from Detroit Reservoir to make room for fall rains. Salmon and Steelhead runs are the largest we’ve seen in years.
Species: Rainbow, Cutthroat, Steelhead
Hatches: October Caddis, Brown Caddis, Tan Caddis, March Brown, Pale Morning and Evening Duns
Flies to use: Trout – Elk & Mallard, Soft Hackles, Double Wing EHC, Goddard Caddis, Yak Caddis. Steelhead/Salmon: Bunny Matuka, Hairwings, ESL, Skaters
Flow: 1,710 cfs @ Mehama
Depth: 3.46 ft @ Mehama
Temp: 54 degrees
Clarity: Very Good
Wading: Normal
